Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.5
  • Credits: 2.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • define and classify “resources”.
  • apply the method of “Material Flow Analysis” (MFA) to create resource balances on different levels.
  • use the MFA software STAN.
  • formulate problems and uncertainties that arise during the set up of resource balances, as further to locate and interpret differences between resource balances.

Subject of course

  • Analysis of selected anthropogenic goods- and substance metabolisms,
  • learning about phenomena and problems,
  • evaluation of Material flow analysis(MFA)-results,
  • handling of data,
  • design of systems according to the goals for an environmentally compatible regional mass balance,
  • estimation of the value of resources.

Teaching methods

  • Lecture with discussions
  • Introduction in the STAN software
  • Project work
  • Question & answer to project work

Mode of examination

Immanent
