After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain the terminology, the system theoretical backgrounds and the approaches of ecology as well as the basic ecological principles applicable at several levels of integration. They can independently work on a topic in groups, taking these basic principles into account, describe the results in a seminar paper and present them.
Ecology implements more substantial aspects than usually recognized. In a first lecture part, basic ecological principles and system theoretical backgrounds in ecological approaches acting on different integration levels are presented.
In a second part, topics linked to specific ecological aspects or other system theoretical theories elaborated by the students are presented in a group work and discussed among participants.
