After successful completion of the course, students are able to determine the baseline in terms of environment and data for the design of a wastewater treatment plant and then calculate the volumes and process data of the WWTP.
Wastewater characterisation, basic biochemical processes, mass balances, kinetcs of biological processes, data base for design, design procedure for activated sludge processes, with special emphasis on nitrogen and phosphorus removal, other biological treatment processes (membrane bioreactors, biofilters), influence of sludge treatment on wastewater treatment, supernatant treatment.
Lecture, presentation of contents, interactive development of solutions
Assignment in the master's programme in civil engineering (study number: 066 505):Module 1 of the specialisation Water & Resources
During the examination, the entire subject matter of the lecture is queried, whereby the focus on the understanding of the relationships and the implementation of the knowledge about wastewater treatment plants to dimension properly.
The mastery of the material of the lecture 226.026 Water Quality Management (in the bachelor course) is required.
