After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• describe the importance of the visited facilities for waste management and recycling
• explain issues and related solutions of the visited facilities
• write a report including information about the topics presented during the visit

Program of the Waste management Excursion 1 on 19.10.2021:

09:00 - approx. 12:30: On-site visit of selected sites of the ÖBB-construction site "Semmering-Basistunnel"

 Organisation

• The excursion takes place on 19th October 2021.
• Meeting point is punctual at 07:15 AM at the corner Wiedner Hauptstraße/Resselgasse.
• Bus transfer
• Arrival will be ~2 PM.
• Sturdy shoes and clothing according to the weather. In case you own security shoes, we urge you to take them with you. Otherwise, ÖBB will borrow you security shoes on the construction site.
• COVID-19-security measures: 3G detection; wearing a mouth-nose protection; 1-meter-distance

Registration exclusively in the secretary's office of the institute (Karlsplatz 13, 2nd floor) on 05.10.2021 from 09:00-11:00. Please note that there is a limited number of participants (maximum 18 students)! It is "first come, first serve." Wearing the mouth-nose-protection is obligatory! In addition, a deposit of € 10,-- has to be paid at the registration! The deposit will be refunded when you show up for the excursion!

Excursion

Two components: compulsory attendance + submission of a report (.pdf) by e-mail to stefan.spacek@tuwien.ac.at until 15.11.2021.

The report must consist of a text part (1100-1700 words) and tables and graphs, which should be added in an adequate extent (approx. 1 page for tables and graphs). Font size 12 (Arial) and a line spacing of 1,5 and justification. If passages of the text are copied from the Internet or any other source (without any appropriate citation/reference), the report will be automatically graded with "nicht genügend (5)". The grading will be proceeded as soon as the reports of all excursion participants are handed in and the deadline is expired.

Evaluation criteria:

• related to the excursion
• content correctness
• scope and structure
• appropriate writing style
• autonomous work
• referencing (in a scientific format and consistent)

Attention: For the successful completion of the course, the attendance of the excursion and the submission of the report are required. If the report is not submitted, although the excursion was attended, the total course will be graded with "nicht genügend (5)".
