After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the basic geological processes, such as the formation and technical characteristics of minerals and rocks, the structure of the earth, plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, and the effect of the water. Furthermore, students can explain the basics of geogenic natural hazards, such as mass movements (rockfalls and landslides), locate the geological zones of Austria and explain their geotechnical properties, and identify some of the most important rocks.
