After successful completion of the course, students are able to carry out vibration measurements on building constructions or on components including the associated evaluation and analysis of measured data.
Measurement equipment for recording of time-dependent mechanical parameters(sensors, amplifiers, display of measured data, processing of recorded data). Experimental determination of natural frequencies and damping coefficients considering as example beam- and multistory frame structures by applying piezoelectric accelerometers and force transducers. Demonstration of passive vibration control considering a three story shear frame. Introduction in analyses of signals in the time and freqeuncy domain. Application of strain gauge technique. Introduction in computer-controlled vibration techniques(software: BEAM, LABVIEW).
