Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

.. use simplified calculation methods for energy efficiency; durability and thermal comfort assesment.

.. use a hygrothermal component simulation (liquid water transport, convection, diffusion; heat conduction) for three-dimensional building constructions to calculate the hygrothermal behavior and the risk of frost damage; rotting of biogenous materials and mold.

.. to collect the legal framework for a specific construction with relevance to building physics.

.. develope building constructions taking into account building physics aspects (fire protection, sound insulation, minimizing the risk of moisture damage) for timber based construction.

Subject of course

The lecture is a continuation of the lecture "Building Physics" .

Contents: Air, moisture and heat transport in buildings, rooms and components; Description of indoor climate and microclimate at the building site; Comfort, productivity; Moisture-related damage processes (mold formation, ice formation, hygr. Length change); Flow processes in buildings, components; Hygrothermal component simulation and assessment of results; Hygrothermal room simulation and assessment of the results; Overall energy efficiency of buildings; Application of simulation programs;
