Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to distinguish material problems from structural problems, to present three-axial stress states in the principal stress space and in the plane of Mohr's stress circles and thus to be able to evaluate whether tensions lead to purely elastic or even anelastic material behavior.

Subject of course

Fundamentals of elasticity theory, basic aspects of plasticity theory, hardening and softening behaviour, fundamentals of continuum micromechanics and of multiscale modelling, verification and validation of constitutive models.

Teaching methods

Discussion of the basic equations of the theory of elasticity, discussion of graphical representation approaches of stress states, discussion of failure hypotheses, discussion of mechanical material tests
