Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.0
  • Credits: 1.0
  • Type: UE Exercise
  • Format: Hybrid

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able toto independently adapt computer codes for advanced macro- & microemchanics of materials, and to apply them for quantifying the behavior of given material systems.

Subject of course

Solution of an example in the field of (micro)poroelasticity or poroplasticity using mathematical software (Matlab, Mathematica).

Teaching methods

-  Scientific discussion with the students regarding the development of a code for higher macro & micromechanics of materials.

-  Independent adaptation and application of the code by the students to concrete problems and preparation of a corresponding written report

-  Subsequent discussion of the adapted code and results

Mode of examination

Written and oral

Additional information

If possible, the lectures will be held in hybrid mode in blocks. Lectures will be held in the lecture hall under the applicable safety measures of the TU Vienna, see https://www.tuwien.at/tu-wien/corona. If there is a lack of hybrid-capable lecture halls, the course will be held in face-to-face or online format according to the infection situation.

At the beginning of the semester, an appointment survey is created in which students can enter their availability with regard to possible lecture dates.

Three UE units will then be offered in TISS.

In order to get access to the TUWEL course from the start of the semester, a non-binding electronic registration for the course "202.052 Advanced Macro- & Micromechanics of Materials" in TISS is required.

Information exchange between lecturers and students also takes place via the TUWEL course for the course, where course materials are also made available. This includes lecture notes, the presentation slides for the exercise lectures, the specification sheet of the homework example.

This course can only be taken as elective of study

066658 (Chemistry and Technology of Materials).
