…formulate valid critical questions concerning the future of technology in society
…create technological artefacts and/or audiovisual media by applying critical design as a form of answering such questions
… list classical work of critical and speculative design 

Subject of course

Students will develop Critical Design projects in which they speculate in productive and critical ways about the future.

A mixture of tought classes and practical work in groups is to be expected. Between classes, students are expected to read relevant literature and write summaries or essays to demonstrate their understanding of the material. Assessment is divided into multiple deliveries over the semester and will include written texts, presentations, peer feedback as well as engagement in the discussions in class.

In summer 2022 we will have a focus on wearable speculative design.  

Teaching methods

teaching methods include all or some of the following: autonomous and self-dependent research and preparation of materials; short lectures with discussions; prepartion of an interactive teaching units for a given topic in small working groups; guided/autonomous work on small individual projects and/or one overarching project.
