- coding practices developed in cloud computing, in particular in concrete use cases at Amazon Web Services (AWS). 

Students should also be able to analyze a practical cloud computing challenge, to choose adequate methods for their solutions, and to evaluate the results.

Upon interests, student may opt to be certified as an AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Solution Architect Associate, receiving AWS cloud industry certifications.

The course presents recent trends and solutions in cloud computing, with particular focus on emerging solutions applied at Amazon Web Services (AWS). 

The course content is  presented based on use-cases and examples that are appealing for builders and underlying the solution are AWS Services such as database, compute, IoT, AI/ML, and networking in AWS. 

The course provides practical cloud knowledge with hands-on building experience and open up career opportunities. Top finalist students are offered the opportunity to completing an AWS industry certification, provided that course units are completed. 

There will be lectures and exercise (lab) sessions, with each lecture and exercise being run by members of the AWS Austrian Solution Architect team. 

- Each lecture  will last 2 x 45 mins, using an in-class format. The lecture will focuse on the cloud, its technologies and some of the services AWS offers. 

- Each exercise session will last 2 x 45 mins, using an in-class format. These session will support students to apply and try the material presented in the lectures. Students will be offered  AWS accounts to students for practical lab exercises so that they can experience cloud technologies through learning by doing in real-world use cases.

Practice tests and videos, as well as homework assignments will be handed out after each lecture and exercise sessions. 

Students will be asked to give mid-term and final presentations on their progress and learning outcomes: short mid-term presentations of 5-10 minutes and one final presentation of 10-15 minutes are expected. 

The course grade will be decided based on the participation of students in sessions, as well as on their presentations.

As such, the course grade will be pass or fail.

Upon completing the course with an excellent final project, students have the opportunity to complete the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification, which is a well known IT industry certification.
