Cognitive and practical competences:
- Abilitity to design, develop and evaluate own applications with multi-sensory user interfaces
- Ability to integrate state-of-the-art sensors and/or actuators with suitable software and hardware control into an application
- Ability to design user study to assess multi-sensory interfaces, from the experimental protocol to the statistical analyses of the data.
Technical background and methodological competencies: Students learn about
- Basics of human sensory perception
- New types of (2D/3D) interaction, new interfaces
- Basics of statistics for assessing multimedia interfaces
- Application of various multi-sensory technologies in different application areas and their implications for humans and society

Written (50% of the final grade) and Oral (50% of the final grade) exam
The written exam will last 2 hours and will consist of proposing a solution to a problem related to multimedia interfaces based on the state of the art presented in the course.
The oral exam will be a 10 minutes presentation of a research paper. Students will have to choose in the first weeks which paper the want to study and will have to present it during the oral exam session.
No major requirements but, knowledge in computer graphics, User Interfaces, Multimedia-Technology are advantageous. Inscription in the master studies is absolutely necessary!!!
