After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply fundamental knowledge on user experience and interaction design. Students learn about the underlying psychological constructs (such as User Experience, User Acceptance, Workload, Trust, etc.) as well as the scientific method for systematically analyzing existing (i.e., user studies) and designing interfaces in the different phases of the human-centered development process.
The course conveys methodological knowledge about the evaluation of human-machine interfaces according to defined goals, prototyping tools at different product phases, and basic knowledge about human factors.
Conveyance of fundamental knowledge:
Conveyance and practice of abilities and skill
Interface & Interaction design conveys methods and knowledge for the design of human-machine interfaces. The course addresses the human-centered design process in an interdisciplinary fashion, including knowledge from fields such as computer science, human factors & ergonomics, and psychology.
The introductory lecture takes place on March 4th.
In case of important questions please contact the head of the lecture - Philipp Wintersberger (philipp.wintersberger@tuwien.ac.at)
The final compulsory proof of performance is given by the semester project. In groups of 5, students will be handed out 5 assignments covering the human-centered design (HCD) process. In total, 5 assignments related to important HCD phases (analysis, ideation, design, implementation, evaluation) will have to be completed. Student groups will have to complete the work, document, and present their results. The final project outcome will be presented in form of a short (3-5 minute) video. The final grade will be determined based on the results of the 5 assignments (20 points each).
