Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

* understand and use a DAW
* build an audio homestudio
* use acoustic knowledge
* use effects, samplers and beat generators
* create a personal song to exercise knowledge of the course

Subject of course

  • We will use the different functionalities of the DAW Reaper: Recording, Cutting, Fades, Routing, VST-instruments, effects and Midi implementation.

  • configure: loudspeakers, microphones, soundcard, and audio-mixer

  • acoustics to build an audio home studio
  • introduction to effects in sound design

  • musictheory: songstructure, harmonics and beats
  • using a software synthesizer, a beat generator and a sampler

working groups in different aspects (harmony, rhythm, finding melodies, effects)

preparing presentations

given tasks to solve during the working hours of the course
