After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and apply the basics of health information systems. On the basis of a patient journey, special features, planning, and implementation strategies are discussed.
During the course of the lecture, the most important concepts of information systems in health care will be gradually introduced and discussed:
• Overview of the subject matter - Patient Journey and Healthcare Information Systems• Documentation in the healthcare sector• Mobile Health Apps and Tools• Electronic health records• eCard and nationwide infrastructure• Hospital information systems, their modules and IT in the hospital• Medical practice systems and IT environment• Medical devices and diagnostic systems• Care systems, systems for prevention• Special topics like integration and interoperability
The responsible research group provides engineering perspectives. Didactically, this means for the present LVA: imparting the necessary specialist basics, instructions for situational research in case of in-depth need, presentation of real, often large case studies, testing and experience in concept design, subprojects and applications appropriate for the lecture.
