Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • understand the tasks, positioning and functionality of ERP systems;
  • understand concrete customer requirements and independently formulate implementation approaches;
  • to implement an ERP system practically;
  • to recognize connections between lived processes, theoretical modelling and practical truth;
  • Understand the relationship between business management and the IT tools used.

Subject of course

The following main topics form the content of the course:
- Introduction to ERP systems (applications, function)
- Fields of application and benefits
- Introduction of workflows process modelling and management
- Maintenance of ERP systems
- Process analysis
- Trends in ERP systems (incl. major manufacturers)
- Basics system analysis, platform selection, resource planning, system implementation, system integration, roll-out, training, support, case studies

Teaching methods

The course is divided into a lecture and an exercise part. In the lecture the basics as well as different methods and techniques of ERP systems are presented. These methods and techniques will be applied in the practice part with practical examples. In the context of the exercise, tasks are to be worked out in small groups.
