Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to perform independent research in any area of trichoderma science and applications.

This course aims the introduction in the most up to date advances in Trichoderma research. The course consists of the three modules: 1) Biology and Ecology of Trichoderma based on the whole genus diversity. 2) Genetics and genomics of Trichoderma based on the most recent achievements in this area, and 3) Applications of Trichoderma in industry and biotechnology. After the completion of these modules, the overview of the Ecological Genomics of Trichoderma will be possible. The subsequent discussion will cover general biological concepts and their applications to other opportunistic and industrially beneficial microorganisms. The course is usually adjusted to the individual programs of Ph.D. students working on Trichoderma aiming to broaden and complementing the expertise in the area

Subject of course

The course will be given in series of online sessions on various aspects of Trichoderma genomics: ecology, evolution, diversity,  genomic architecture, and transcriptional response to mycoparasitism, interaction with plants,  parasitism on human cells, interactions with nematodes. Special emphasis will be given on ecophysioogical characterization of wild type and mutant strains.

The course is given over WS and SS and should be based on min 10 lectures attended.
