Properties

  • Semester hours: 1.0
  • Credits: 1.5
  • Type: VO Lecture
  • Format: Online

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to measure particle collectives with regard to their size distribution, morphology and velocity Distribution. They should know the advantages and disadvantages of the measuring instruments used for this purpose.

Subject of course

The lecture informs about measuring methods of particulate matter in flowing gases e.g. gravimetric determination of dust load by tubular filter devices determination of dust load by continuous measurement of scattered light with photometers determination of dust load by continuous measurement of optical transmission particle size selective measurement by cascade impactors particle size selective measurement by scattered light analyzers particle image velocimetry particle dynamics analysis laser doppler anemometry

Teaching methods

Through the discussion of case studies, the most efficient method for characterizing particle collectives should be developed
