Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand various basic biotechnological methods, carry them out practically and assign them to application areas and fields of application.

Subject of course

Biotechnological, biochemical, microbial and molecular biological standard work techniques in connection with current research topics. These can include the production of vectors, the production of a microbial production strains by molecular biological methods, the genetic analysis of these strains, the recombinant production formation by fermentation or the characterization of the product.

Teaching methods

The contents of the laboratory exercise are conveyed through selected scientific publications, working instructions and the experiments described therein. The course content is deepened by the preparation of a laboratory protocol by the students. In addition, open questions are addressed through preparatory, result and protocol discussions.
