Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • To understand the characterisation of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and their characteristic value accorsing to standards and to use them for the design of combustion plants.
  • Properly design incinerators using basic calculations and to dimension combustion chambers (3T criterion).
  • To know different incinerators for solid, liquid and gaseous fuels and to use them optimally for different applications.

Subject of course

The course consists of three main parts: Part 1: Characterisation of fuels Part 2: Basic equations for the combustion process and dimensioning of the combustion system Part 3: Design and operation of combustion systems Solid, liquid as well as gaseous fuels and the respective combustion systems are content of the course.
