After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand important theoretical fundamentals of nanomaterials; derive influences of nanodimension on physical and chemical properties (optical, electronic, structural); describe important characterization methods of nanomaterials; apply theoretical concepts to related classes of materials; describe different processes and methods for the production of nanomaterials; evaluate processes in which nanomaterials are used with respect to their large-scale feasibility (in terms of economic efficiency, environmental compatibility and legal requirements).
Cognitive and practical competencies:
Likewise, the comprehensive education in the field of nanoscale materials application enables students to safely and responsibly handle nanoscale materials and the associated risks.
Social competencies and self-competencies:
Within the framework of the course, social competence, innovation competence and creativity are taught and promoted.
This course provides fundamental knowledge of the chemistry and physics of nanostructured materials and their potential applications. Emphasis is on:
- Synthesis of nanostructures by chemical processes.
- Physical causes of nano-effects
- Molecular self-assembly with examples for 0D to 3D systems
- Application and deepening of methods adapted to the subject matter for the characterization of nanomaterials
- Evaluation of properties and investigation with respect to selected applications
- Relationship between the properties of nanomaterials and their applications
The objectives are conveyed in the form of lectures, in which the course content is deepened through discussions with the students. The contents are additionally supported by literature examples and by video content and demonstrations.
During the Summer Semester 2022 the lecture will take place in the Seminar Room Lehar 02.
