2023W, LU, 4.0h, 4.0EC, to be held in blocked form

Properties

  • Semester hours: 4.0
  • Credits: 4.0
  • Type: LU Laboratory Exercise
  • Format: Presence

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand chemical reactions and chemical equilibra (acid/base, redox, precipitation and complexation) and to use these for the purpose of separating and identifying cations and anions in aqueous solutions.

Subject of course

Introduction to the cation separation scheme and the relevant identification reactions. Identification of cations and anions based on the cation separation scheme and individual ion tests exemplified by the analysis of soluble pure compounds, and multi-component mixtures of increasing complexity.

Teaching methods

Practical and independent work in the chemcial laboratory under supervision of assitants and tutors.

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

In response to the low number of participants in the previous years, the next course of the Qualitative Analytical Lab Course will be held only in the summer semester 2024 (May and June) with up to 60 participants capacity each.
