Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to use the presented methods and to evaluate the obtained results. By displaying their results in form of a poster session they are trained to present and discuss their work.

Subject of course

Combined application of separation and hyphenated methods (GC/MS, LC/MS, IC, CE) and spectroscopic methods (AAS, OES, RFA, SEM, FTIR, Raman, MS) to complex problems from the fields of environmental, materials and process analysis which require a multi-method approach. The practical examples will be dealt with with different instrumental techniques, and the results are to be discussed and reviewed critically.

Teaching methods

GC/MS, LC/MS, IC, CE, AAS, OES, RFA, REM, FTIR, Raman, SIMS, LA-ICP-MS

Additional information

The course is divided into 3 parts: Environmental and Process Analytics (UPA), Material Analytics (MAT) and Bioanalytics (BIO).

The course will be held during the whole summer term. Each part will be held in block of 3-4 Work days (10 am - 6pm). The blocks are planned in middle of March (BIO), end of April (MAT) and middle Mai (UPA). The course will be closed with a seminar coupled with poster presentation in June.
