Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to recognise the importance of recycling from different aspects, such as raw material management and environmental protection. They know important methods of recycling different products and are aware of the most important legal regulations.

Subject of course

History, environmental problems, legal framework conditions, avoidance/zero waste, circular economy, raw material supply, critical raw materials, economic aspects, raw material requirements for the energy turnaround, recycling technologies, processes from the field of inorganic technology and process engineering with a focus on raw material recovery as secondary raw materials, especially of valuable metals and recyclable materials, including from electromobility, end-of-life vehicles, plastics, refractory metals (tungsten, hard metals and MMCs). Practical examples on production and use of recycling construction materials, recycling of biogenic wastes (composting, biogas), glass and paper recycling.

Teaching methods

Presentation of the contents by ppt, the files being available to the students in TISS and TUWEL, respectively. Free questioning by the students as well as questions to the auditorium by the lecturers.
