Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to summarise basics of electrochemical systems (thermodynamics and kinetics), to categorise systems for electrochemical energy conversion, particularly fuel cells, electrolysis cells and different batteries, to evaluate their properties.

Subject of course

- Introduction into thermodynamics of electrochemical cells

- Fuel cells in the context of other electrochemical energy systems (batteries)

- Introduction into kinetics of fuel cells (polarization, curent-voltage relation)

- Materials in fuel cells and batteries
