After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the concepts of thermal energy storage and distinguish between sensibel heat storage, latent heat storage and thermochemical energy storage. Students can name practical examples especially for phase change materials and thermochemical energy storage materials and can describe their applications and limits.
Introduction into the topic energy storage with emphasis into the concepts of thermal energy storage. The main part of the topic is exemplified by the 3 concepts such as sensible heat storage, latent heat storage and thermochemical energy storage. Based on selected practical examples the applications and limits of phase change materials and of thermochemical energy storage materials are elucidated. Recent research outcomes will be discussed and future emerging development is highlighted.
Oral presentation of the lecturers supported by presentation charts. Discussion of selected examples for applications.
