After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain the following topics:
• Important processes in the field of petrochemistry and industrial organic chemistry (e.g. extraction of fossil raw materials, petrochemical conversion processes, gasification of carbon-containing raw materials, processes based on synthesis gas, production of olefins) as well as chemical composition, properties and use of the products
• Fundamentals of macromolecular chemistry (basic properties of polymers, synthesis methods and technical polymerization processes), as well as the production and areas of application of important polymers, polycondensates and cross-linked plastics
• The extraction, conversion and application of selected renewable raw materials (triglycerides, starch, cellulose) as well as the basics of textile and detergent chemistry
Survey of processes in industrial organic Chemistry: Raw materials, oil chemistry, macromolcecules (plastics), detergents, dyes, fibres, renewable raw materials. Production, properties and application of industrial products.
A written exam about the course content. The exam lasts 120 minute.
Exams are conducted as online exams via https://tuwien.ixam.cloud (further details in German can be found here, or can be requested by e-mail to DI Heinz A. Krebs).
This exam will be recorded and analyzed by software afterwards. If you do not agree, please contact DI Krebs and Prof Liska.
These tasks consist of:
• Questions each from the subject areas petrochemistry & industrial organic chemistry, macromolecular chemistry and renewable raw materials
For a "sufficient", a maximum of 2 of the questions may not be answered or not answered adequately, whereby these 2 questions may not come from the same subject area. If they come from the same subject area, the test must be repeated in any case.
