After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
Basic knowledge in organic chemistry: Electronic configuration - orbitals - hybridisation - s- and p-Bonds - influence of electronic effects on bond polarity - reactive intermediates - acids and bases, electrophiles and nucleophiles - functional groups and carbon backbone - principles of nomenclature. Correlations between structure, physical properties and chemical reactivity of the most important classes of organic compounds. Important reaction types and basic reaction mechanisms occuring in organic chemistry.
The lecture presents the concepts in talks and gives ample space for questions. Additionally, application examples of important organic molecules or researchers are given to loosen up the lecture.
written exam with 10 questions, 10 points each.
