Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

• knowing the energy supply in Austria, Europe and the world
• better understand the facts about the climate crisis
• to know the origin, preparation of the most important fuels
• assess ways of increasing the efficiency of energy supply (power generation)
• to better understand alternative, renewable power generation technologies and to assess their possibilities and limits
• assess energy supply techniques as a whole.

Energy demand in Austria, Europe, worldwide Energy flow diagramm, Fuel technology (from exploration until utilization) Thermal Conversion of fuels with special ephasis to power generation Renewable Energy hydro power wind solar geothermy others (tidal, wave, ...) Energy systems for the future (fuel cells) Evaluation of energy systems

Teaching methods

Lectures on the individual chapters.
Possibility to discuss current questions of energy technology at the end of each lecture.
