Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to resume (in word and writing) the basic quantum physics of simple atoms and molecules. Special emphasis is on aplications in quantum-sensing. Students acquire knowledge in areas like laser spectroscopy, laser cooling and the operation principles of atomic clocks.

Introduction into the quantum physics of atoms, molecules and chemical bonds, multi electron problem; periodic table of elements, operation principle of CW lasers, laser spectroscopy, laser cooling, operation principle of atomic clocks
