Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • be familiar with basic concepts of radiation physics
  • use physics variables and units in a proper way
  • gather the meaning of radiation protection to the technological civilisation of the constitutional state
  • know physical and social concepts of modern radiation protection
  • apply them onto optimisation and aceptance issues
  • contextualize medical applications
  • find their own decision on the nuclear controversity
  • distinguish between natural and anthropogenic radiataion sources (environmental radiation e.g. radon in buliding materials

Introduction to the interaction of ionizing radiation with matter; basic problems and fundamental concepts of today's radiation protection philosophy
