After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the following archaeometrical methods, including inherent limitations, applications and dating range:

  • radiocarbon dating
  • archaeological chronology
  • dendrochronology
  • thermoluminescence dating
  • provenancing
  • dating with radioactive decay
  • nuclear track dating
  • archaeomagnetism
  • ESR

Subject of course

Aspects of archaeological chronologies; dendrology; radiocarbon dating; luminescence dating; potassium-argon dating; lead-white dating; nuclear track dating; archaeomagnetism; electron spin resonance.
