This lecture will give an in depth introduction on Quantum Optics. It will be given in connection with the CoQuS Doktorandenkolleg. This semester we will concentrate on essential laboratory techniques for experimental quantum optics and atomic physics.
The topics covered in the course include: Second quantization of the light field, quantum statistical properties of radiation, coherent states, squeezed light, parametric amplification, the laser, atom light interaction and the Jaynes-Cummings model, Dark states and multi-level atoms, Slow light, Precision spectroscopy, Cavity QED, Scattering and entanglement, Field theory and matter wave optics. These topics will be covered from both a theoretical and experimental perspective.
The course will be held in the framework of CoQuS before the CoQuS colloquium. Course PrograM:
We meet for the first lecture on wednesday the 13th of october 2010, at 14h at the Atominstitut. The lecture will be given in blocks, to make the traveling to the ATI simpler. the detailed times of the lecture blcks will be discussed om wednesday. (Jörg Schmiedmayer)
