Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand and explain different methods and techniques of activation analysis and their applications to optimal investigate the elemental composition of environmental materials and ready to apply it.

Subject of course

Nuclear reactions, activation by means of thermal neutrons, neutron sources, nuclear research reactors, measurement techniques, data processing, quality control. Investigation of environmental, biological, medical, geological, and industrial materials by means of neutron activation analysis will be discussed in detail. Advantages and disadvantages of this technique compared to other techniques will be mentioned. The course will also discuss the latest chemical and technical developments in this field.
