Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to explain plasma and its properties, the different kinds of plasma generation, the characterization of plasma and the different kind of application.

Subject of course

Fundamentals of plasma physics and electrical discharges. Generation of cold and thermal plasmas in a variety of plasma sources. Plasma diagnostics using electrical and optical methods. Practical applications of plasma as a source of radiation/light, a source of sound, working medium in technology and medicine, medium for chemical conversion, an ion source or thruster and in fusion research.

Teaching methods

Teaching of the basis of plasma physics and technologa through oral lectures and short movies for demonstration.
