Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

1) apply standard geophysical methods commonly used in engineering and environmental investigations.

2) design geophysical surveys for enviromental studies

3) evaluate data quality in geophysical imaging measurements

  • Introduction to Physical concepts in Electrical and Electromagnetic prospection
  • Electrical properties of the subsurface
  • Electrical Resistivity Tomography (ERT)
  • Induced Polarization (IP)
  • Low-induction number electromagnetic mapping
  • Transient electromagnetic (TEM)
  • Ground Penetrating Radar
  • Seismic refraction Tomography

Teaching methods

  • The lecture is given as Distance Learning, with the links to the online meetings available in the TUWEL page of the course
  • Recordings of the lecture will be available during the semester in the TUWEl page of the course
  • A script for the lecture weill be made available in TUWEL, which consist of the slides used in each lecture. The slides and other relevant material are available for the students before each lecture.
