Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to correctly  parametrize and predict earth satellite orbits. Students are able describe and model the major disturbing forces acting on satellites. In addition graduates are able to assess the advantages and disadvantages of the most used satellite orbits (sun-synchronous and geo-stationary orbit).

Subject of course

Equations of motions, pertubation theory, orbit types (GEO,MEO,LEO, ...); signal propagation, parameter estimation in satellite geodesy, texchnique specific error sources;

The learning contents to be discussed in the course are provided in the associated lecture notes.

Die erste LVA  Navigation startet am Donnerstag den 7.Oktober um 14.30h im Sem B, grüner

Turm, 2OG als Präsenzveranstaltung.

In der ersten Stunde werden Informationen zu den LVA Unterlagen (Skripten)

gegeben und abgesprochen in welchem Hybridmodus (Online-Zoom bzw. Präsenz ) die LVA

im laufenden Semester abgehalten wird.

Examination modalities

 

Oral exam comprising the whole lecture contents with special emphasis on

n-body problem, pertubation theory, atmospheric effects, theory, special satellite orbits and parameter estimation.

Active participation during the lecture will be considered.
