– Understand the basics of database and spatial database – Work with PostgreSQL and PostGIS, create SQL queries – Understand web services and open standards (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS, SLD, GML) – Work with GeoServer to publish spatial data on the web

   1. Introduction, overview, information systems, cartographic information systems

   2. Database, SQL, PostgreSQL 

   3. Spatial database, SQL, PostGIS

   4. Web services, open standards for web mapping (GML, WMS, WFS, WCS, SLD)

   5. Open Data

   6. Open solutions for web mapping, GeoServer

Theoretical lectures and a basic introduction to a software is provided

Only a limited number of places are available for this course. This course is compulsory for "066 200 Cartography". For the remaining seats priority will be given to the study programmes "066 421 Geodesy and Geoinformation" and "066 464 Geomatics Engineering and Cartography".
