124.017 Astrogeodetic methods of economic surveying
This course is in all assigned curricula part of the STEOP.
This course is in at least 1 assigned curriculum part of the STEOP.

2020S, UE, 2.0h, 2.5EC

  • Semester hours: 2.0
  • Credits: 2.5
  • Type: UE Exercise

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

1) solve some Problems at terrestrial Surveys by astro-geodetic methods in a very economic matter:

* Sight obstacles by buildings, forest ot traffic
* lost fixed points
* Improvement of accuracy of technical surveys in a short time (astronomical azimuths by sun or Polaris)

2) to estimate the heavy influence of vertical deflections in the mountains
* and to eliminate them within a fes minutes
* also under conditions in developing countries.

Subject of course

Higher economy & accuracy of Surveying by additional azimuths and rough Geoid estimations:

1) rapid & economic Astro orientation methods: Azimuth by Sun (polygon improvement ~40%), direction transfer at bad sightings ...

2) Vertical Deflection & alpine Geoid effects (up to 20cm/ km): Estimation by "slope method" (horizontal prisms/ map 1:200.000); 2-point-method (pocket calc.); Transform into National systems, PC programs.
