After successful completion of the course, students are able to

• explain the construction and meaning of economic statistics (e.g. price indices),
• interpret descriptive and econometric studies of economic data and to
• discuss the economic development in the last decades.

Descriptive analysis of macro and micro data, their sources, aggregate economic statistics, business cycle statistics, price statistics, construction of quotas and indices together with their properties, consumer price indices based on commodity bundles, capital stock data, econometric models to investigate census- and survey data, introduction into economic forecasting, with nationwide and regional data.

Mix of lectures, exercises and discussion and analysis of economic data

Documents, exercises, etc. are provided in the associated TUWEL course. Therefore, registration in the TUWEL course is absolutely necessary. (The non-binding registration is done by "self-enrollment"). 

The course is planned entirely in presence. Changes are possible due to the current COVID situation.

Participation during the whole semester and a oral final examination.
