Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

* use Viennots heaps of pieces to enumerate combinatorial objects, for instance certain families of polyominoes,

* describe the moments of families of orthogonal polynomials using continued fractions and labelled Motzkin paths,

* to interpret the Robinson-Schensted correspondence as a special case of Fomins growth diagrams.
