Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to read new papers in the field of Geometric Valuation Theory. In addition, they are able to start with independent research in this mathematical area.

Subject of course

The notion of valuation and Hilbert's Third Problem, SL(n) invariant valuations, translation invariant valuations and the homogeneous decompositon, rigid motion invariant valuations and Hadwiger's classification theorem, applications in integral geometry, valuations on lattice polytopes and the Betke-Kneser theorem.
