After successful completion of the course, students are able to communicate in simple, routine situations involving a direct exchange of information and about familiar topics. In addition, the students know the most important grammatical principles of the Swedish language and have knowledge of basic vocabulary to understand and write technical texts.
The structure of the course includes the areas: grammar, pronunciation, writing exercises, vocabulary expansion and conversation.
Working in groups is primarily used to learn how to use the language actively. Active participation in class is required. Both productive skills (speaking and writing exercises) and comprehension skills (listening and reading comprehension) will be acquired.

The assessment consists of two components. On the one hand, there is a small written test on the subject of the homework in each unit, on the other hand, performances are provided with the DuoLingo app (mobile phone or PC). For each of the 10 written tests and each of the 10 DuoLingo tasks 5 points can be achieved, i.e. a total of 100 points. At least 25 points from the written tests and at least 50 points in total are required for a positive assessment. Positive grades result from the total number of points according to the following key: 50-59 points: sufficient (4) 60-69 points: satisfactory (3) 70-79 points: good (2) 80-100 points: very good (1)
The final registration takes place during the introductory meeting. Places will be allocated among those present in the order of the initial registration in TISS.
