After successful completion of the course, students are able to speak and write about technical matters in English. Through group work, debates, poster presentations, and exams on a variety of technical and business-related topics, you will increase your technical vocabulary, acquire a natural and confident use of technical and scientific English, and improve your grammar and pronunciation.
This course is designed to prepare students for their transition from the academic to the career world. Students train how to interview effectively, and prepare their job application by learning the finer points of convincing CV and cover-letter writing. Through flipchart presentations and critical-thinking workshops, this course will expand your technical, scientific, and business vocabulary. In addition to avoiding typical Germanisms, special focus is also given to reading scientific articles, essay writing, grammar, pronunciation, and punctuation.
Workshops are held on CV and cover-letter writing, as well as interviewing. Students submit their job applications, and every student has a 5-minute personal interview. Poster presentations on the differentiation of technical and scientific vocabulary are given in student teams. There is a written and oral midterm and final exam, which focuses on grammar, pronunciation, word choice, and short-essay writing.
